Boxing
The history of boxing dates back centuries and it was a key element in the ancient Olympic Games. In modern times, however, there were originally concerns about it being too dangerous and violent, but it was eventually reinstated as a key element of the sporting event since 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium.

One of the anomalies of boxing is that boxers compete against one another in what's officially known as the boxing ring … yet in fact it's a square! However, it does make sense when you trace back the history of the match, as open air boxers used to fight outside in a roughly drawn circle on the ground, hence the origin of the boxing ring today. One of the world's best known boxers is Muhammed Ali, who won three World Heavyweight Championships and won a gold medal in the 1960 Olympics in Rome, Italy.
