Basketball
Basketball has been on the agenda at the Olympic Games since 1936, when the event was held in Berlin, Germany. The US team, especially the men, are well known for winning many Olympic basketball events, especially gold medals, but Great Britain has high hopes for 2012 and is investing £8.75m into promoting the game.

A little known (at the moment, but watch this space!) basketball star who is set to be on the GB team for 2012 is Luol Deng. Ironically, he is better known in the US, where he's one of the key players with the Chicago Bulls NBA team and is on a £50m six year contract.

Originally from Sudan, Luol's family sought political asylum in Britain; he was brought up in Brixton, South London, from the age of nine and considers England to be his home. Luol won the NBA Sportsmanship Award in 2007.
