Archery
In the early years of the Olympic Games, archery was amongst one of the few sports in which women could compete. It's had a chequered history as an Olympic sport, as it was taken out of the programme in the 1920 Olympic Games, but eventually got reinstated for the Munich Games in 1972 and has been a popular inclusion ever since. Today's archery events involve a series of individual and team knock-out competitions, involving both men and women, and arrows are shot from an impressive distance of 70m.

One of the 2012 Great Britain Olympic hopefuls for archery is the talented Naomi Folkard, from Leamington Spa. She's won numerous European and World medals for her archery skills and managed to get to the quarter finals in the Beijing Olympic Games. Watch this space to see if she manages to get further in 2012!
