Rowing
Rowing has always been a major part of the Olympic Games and it's a sport that Great Britain has always had success with, especially where winning gold medals is concerned.

One of Britain's best known rowers is Sir Steven Redgrave, who managed to pick up five gold medals with his excellent rowing at five successive Olympic Games. He's the inspiration behind many young rowers and has helped raise the profile of the sport.

At the Montreal, Canada, games in 1976, rowing races for women were introduced and since Atlanta in 1996, there have been a number of lightweight categories included too. The 2012 rowing events will be held at Eton Dorney, near Windsor, and the rowers will be competing to win one of 14 highly coveted gold medals.
