Modern Pentathlon
The modern pentathlon has been a tried and tested part of the Olympic Games since back in 1912, when it was first introduced at the Stockholm games.
Athletes competing in the event have to excel at not just one sport, but five, and need a good level of all round fitness and agility to succeed. The five sports, in order of the way they're carried out, are shooting, fencing, swimming, riding and running.
At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the location for the modern pentathlon will be split across two key venues - the leafy Greenwich Park, which is the oldest Royal Park, and the specially built Olympic Park in Stratford. The final part of the modern pentathlon, namely the cross country run which determines the winner of the event, will take place at a special course designed around Olympic Park.
