Judo
Judo is one of the most popular forms of martial arts and has at its core the importance of learning skills of defending and attacking. As an Olympic sport, it first came on the programme in 1964 at the Tokyo games - which was highly appropriate, since the martial art originated in Japan. Since the Barcelona games in 1992, events for women are included too and there are seven different weight classes.

The judo events at the 2012 Olympic Games will be taking place at the ExCel, centre in London. One of the team competing and hoping to strike lucky and win a gold medal is likely to be Jean-Rene Badrick, who's already won a gold medal in the British Championships and US Open.
