Hockey
The first time that hockey was played as a sport at the Olympic Games was in 1908, when the event was held in London. There was a gap with its inclusion and it wasn't back on the agenda until 1920, at the Antwerp games, but it has firmly remained ever since.
The Moscow games in 1980 heralded the first ever occasion that a women's tournament was included too. The game itself has a much longer history, though - in fact, it's thought that hockey was the very first game ever played that involved a stick and a ball.
One young hopeful for the Great Britain squad at the 2012 Olympics is Niall Stott, from Scotland. Sport seems to be in the blood for this family, as his cousin is a former international player and his younger brother plays for the youth team.
